September 1-5, 2014

Cohort 13 of the MA in Organization Development specializing in Microfinance Management started their program with a 5-day seminar-workshop on the Blondin-Organizational Planning System (OPS) Model. Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna facilitated the workshop last 1-5 September 2014 with 10 Candidate-participants from the different institutions of CARD MRI, 4 from the General Directorate of Banking Supervision (GDBS) under the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), and 1 from Ekpatthana Microfinance Institution of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Commencement Rite

SAIDI GSOD  held  its 1st Commencement Rite (August 13, 2014) for this year at its SAIDI Information Office,  88 Abada St., Loyola  Hts., Quezon  City. The following joined the graduation rite: Mary Ann Arguelles Cortes (MA), Pablito Siwa Belardo, Epifanio A. Maniebo and Gerardo S. Rillon (all PhD).  The Philippine’s First Lady Postmaster General Josefina M. Dela Cruz  graced the occasion as Guest Speaker.

August 14-15, 2014

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes facilitated the 5-year Strategic Planning for the RIMANSI Organization for Asia and the Pacific Inc last August 14-15.
RIMANSI (Risk-based Management Solutions Inc) is the Insurance Commission-recognized network for
all Mutual Benefit Associations (MBAs) of microfinance institutions. Established in 2005 as a regional resource center based in the Philippines, RIMANSI helps professionalize the management of mutual
benefit associations and microinsurance programs that provide affordable, comprehensive, and quality risk protection to millions of poor people in Southeast Asia.

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes conducted last August 18-19, 2014 the 1st module on AI Inquiry and Positivity: Origins, Principles and Practices of the Certificate in Positive OD program to the Aviation Concepts Logistics, Inc. Those who participated were the Core Team and Management Group.

August 27-28, 2014

All 3 batches of the DPWH OCCP Program joined together to attend the final Module entitled REFLECTIONS and SPIRITUALITY in Working at DPWH last August 27-28, 2014 held at Angels’ Hills, Tagaytay. It was facilitated by Dr. Rosalina Fuentes and Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna. Fr. Bong Tupino of Christ the King Parish led the reflections hour and officiated the celebration of the holy mass.

SAIDI Graduate School of OD invited Fr. Frederic Rocha, one of its PhD candidates, to facilitate a workshop entitled “SOAR for Pastoral Planning”. This workshop provided its participants handles in creating plans that are better suited to the nature of their organizations through the use of the SOAR Model. The attendees were Fr. Basic Orientation in AI

Appreciative Inquiry, started by David Cooperrider, has been creating waves of change and influence within organizations and among individuals at present. And as time goes by, more and more get hooked to the AI mania. Who wouldn’t, when it promotes bias for the positive?

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes has made it a point to conduct regular workshops on Appreciative Inquiry to train those who are aspiring to be AI practitioners in their own respective fields. In this run of the “Basic Orientation in AI”, the attendees were Jonimo Bilasano, Jeffrey Madolid, Mario Gil Jocson, Melvin Chan, Maria Dolores Delacruz, Hazel Robles, Ma. Lourdez Corpus and Cherub Troy Alcantara.

Reframing Techniques in Shifting One’s Mindset

Every one has his or her own mindset. This is shaped by many factors, like, culture, education, life experiences, and so forth.... practically every stimulus received by one. That’s one fact of life; the other is the need to shift one’s mindset when relating to ideas, people and events. An inability to allow space for one’s mindset to be generative causes dysfunctions, uneasy relations and un-happiness. To help us learn techniques in creating windows in our mindsets, SAIDI GSOD offered a workshop entitled “Reframing Techniques in Shifting One’s Mindset”. The 2-day workshop was facilitated by Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes. The attendees were Bjorn Martinoff, Victoria Martinoff, Paulina Lawsin-Nayra, Bien Isabelo Clarete, Ronald Keith Tañedo and Liza Inciong.

Conversations on Community Policing

The concept of community policing is something that we seemingly think we are all familiar with. But most of us, unfortunately, do not really know its essence and how it affects all of us one way or another. To know more about the concepts and how-to’s of community policing, SAIDI GSOD offered “Conversations on Community Policing”. The invited speakers, through the help of Ms. Baby Chua, included the following experts on the field: Dir. Isidro Siriban (Former Director of NAPOLCOM and currently with OCD) and Atty. Estrella Avena (Former Director of NAPOLCOM). Our friends from the PNP, headed by Supt. Richard Fiesta, and Barangay Loyola Heights led by Brgy. Capt. Caesar Marquez also participated in the conversations.

Epifanio Maniebo had his final defense for his PhD degree. His dissertation is entitled “A RIMANSI MI-MBA Business Process Model of Community Microinsurance Moving Towards a Sustainable Social Enterprise”. The panel was composed of Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip as Chair, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes as Adviser, Dr. Eliseo A. Aurellado, Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna and Mr. Camilo Casals as members.

Conversations on Quantum Thinking, The Quantum Organization and soon, Quantum OD

Conversations are something that we all look forward to doing. We gain new knowledge just by listening to what others have to say, and at the same time, we are able to impart a bit of what we know to those we converse with. SAIDI Graduate School of OD feels the same way about conversations and so we held the Conversations on Quantum Thinking, The Quantum Organization and soon, Quantum OD. We invited speakers who have dabbled in the world of QUANTUM Thinking within their fields. Our speakers were Maribel Aglipay, Perla Bernardo, Dr. Pamela Fernandez, Jamesina Gotangco, Dr. Ernest Francis Nora and Ursulina Presbitero.  The attendees were Pagie Flora, Marissa Alcantara, Lilibet Amatong, Sr. Mary Ignatius Aquino, OSB, Yolanda Delas Alas, Milagros Lagrosa, Ruben Laraya, Arceli Lopez, Sr. Rose Susan Montejo, Paulina Lawsin-Nayra, Federico Niduasa, Gabriel Orendain, Mildred Piad, Tess Ramiro, Josephine Reyes, Ric Saludo, Emmanuel Silan, Edwin Vidal and Aurora Yutuc.

5th OD Applied Research Forum

For the past 4 years, SAIDI Graduate School of OD starts the year showcasing applied action researches undertaken by its graduates. This year, the theme of the forum was “Creating a Better and Positive World through Organization Development”. Attendees were exposed to new slices of knowledge and new perspectives of the world of OD. The forum was an occasion of exploring possibilities and building partnerships between and among the participants. Our presenters for this forum were 3 of our graduates, namely

  • Dr. Marissa Cos Alcantara (“Pilgrimage Tours as an Opportunity towards Deeper Spirituality in Life”)
  • Dr. Jennifer Venturanza-Lapa (“Relational Leadership Competencies and Interventions and their Effects on Employee Empowerment at Three Levels of Organization Development”) and
  • Dr. Reynaldo Casas (“Bottom of the Pyramid-driven CSR Strategy of an Organization: An OD Case Study”).

There were 39 attendees from various organizations such as ABS-CBN, TIP, CEU, La Salle College Antipolo, Miriam College, Holy Angels University, SPCF, Mabalacat College, PhilCare, Patient First Medical Center, CMDI, AAAIM, OTI Phils, Jord Phils, DevConcepts, Xerox, Publicus, Toshiba, AIM and Company of Mary.

Gerardo Rillon had his final oral defense for his PhD degree. His dissertation is entitled “Aligning ASCOT’s Internal Stakeholders towards Desired Workplace Values”.
