Graduation of 17 MA in OD specializing in Microfinance Management Candidates

Dr. Rose and Dr. Apple were at Siem Reap, Cambodia for the graduation of 17 MA in OD specializing in Microfinance Management candidates. It was held at Smiling Hotel and Spa. Dr. Sok Thim, Executive Director of Cambodia Health Committee, Ltd., was invited as guest speaker. The graduates were: Medelyn K. Alimagno, Henry M. Altarejos, Jr., Laarni B. Añonuevo, Madonna U. “Words Create Worlds” Learning Session

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes & Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna facilitated the learning session on “Words Create Worlds”.  There were 13 participants from ACCESS school.  The participants were: Carlo Roman Zarate, Vilma Cacho, Milardo de Guzman, Marietta de Guzman, Darius Mirasol, Ma. Christina Antonnette Baclit, Winifredo Garcia, Lorna Dalimot, Gerardo Gatus, Marivic Ilagan, Leonora Malibiran, Arthoro Ramada, and Fernando delos Santos.

POD Module 5: Positivity as a Mindset in Leadership

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes facilitated the 5th Module of the POD Certificate Program entitled “Positivity as a Mindset in Leadership”.  The graduates of the program were Jonas Tetangco, Luis Bunales, Jr., Fr. Frederic Rocha (PhD Cand.), Lilibet Amatong, Carlo Roman Zarate (PhD Cand.), and Karen Meñez.

Final Defense of Pablo Belardo

Pablo Belardo had his final defense for his PhD degree. His dissertation was entitled “Crafting the SFAC Strategic Employee Development Program to the Future: SOAR-ing with the Legacy of the Founder”. The panel was composed of Dr. B. Final Defense of Sanga Chaiyamang

Sanga Chaiyamang had his final defense for his PhD degree. His research was on “SERVQUAL as OD Tool to Improve Service in PR School ROI-ET, Thailand”. The panel consisted of Bro. Michael Thinaratana Komkris as Chair, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes as Adviser, Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna, Sr. Joy Carmel Jumawan, Carm. OL, and Dr. Peter Gan as members.

Group 1 of the DPWH OCBP Program attends Module 4

Dr. Rose invited as Speaker in FUSE General Assembly

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes was invited as Speaker by The Foundation for Upgrading the Standards of Education (FUSE) in their General Assembly. Her piece revolved around the topic “Celebrate What’s Right with the World”.

Group 3 of the DPWH OCBP Program attends Module 4

Group 3 of the DPWH OCBP Program, consisting of 43 participants, attended Module 4 which was entitled “Expanding Mindsets (Paradigm Shifts – Part 2)”. Facilitators were Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna, and renowned artist Mr. Heber Bartolome.

Graduation Rite

This event saw the conferment of diplomas to five PhD graduates, namely, Jennifer Lapa, Grace Fabros-Tyler, Sanga Chaiyamang, Fr. Somphong Chatbanyong, and Fr. Peter Nguyen Thanh Nhiem, SVD. We invited Dr. Ernest Francis Nora as inspirational speaker for the said event. Those present were Msgr. Vicente D. Bauson (Chair of SAIDI Foundation, Inc.’s Board of Trustees), Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes (President and Dean of SAIDI Graduate School of OD), Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna (Director of Applied Research Center & Consulting and Registrar of SAIDI Graduate School of OD), Dr. Marissa Cos Alcantara (SAIDI Alumna and Mentor), SAIDI administration and staff, and families and friends of the graduates.

Final Defense of 9 MA in OD specializing in Microfinance candidates and Proposal Defense of 2 MA in OD specializing in Microfinance candidates

There were 9 MA in OD specializing in Microfinance candidates who had their final defense. These candidates were Leonisa Manalo, Vladimir Sanchez, Norberto Yeban, Jr., Jeannie La Rosa, Mary Ann Resplandor, Fe Labay, Leizel Estrella, Ma. Francia Benosa, and Marivic Monroy. There were also 2 MA in OD specializing in Microfinance candidates who had their proposal defense. These two were Gil Bartolome and Yorn Phany. The panel consisted of Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna, Dr. Enrique Navarro, and Ms. Glenda Lagarile.

Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes and Ms. Pauline Guanzon facilitated the learning session on “Preparing and Learning to Use the AI-Instrument for Storytelling”. Stephan Schmitt-Degenhardt had his final defense for his PhD degree. His research was entitled “Partner Selection Criteria among Small Businesses: Universally Similar or Culturally Contingent?”. Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes facilitated a learning session entitled “Opening New Windows: Shifting the Mindsets for a Difference!”. The attendees were Darius Mirasol, Crissane Baclit, and Marivic Ilagan of ACCESS. Only Darius Mirasol and Marivic Ilagan were able to complete the 2-day session.

Gina Farrales had her proposal defense for her PhD program via Skype conference. Her research is entitled “Localize Collaboration for Housing Poor People: A Case Study of Cadiz City Local Community Mortgage Program (LCMP)”. The panel was composed of Dr. Rosalina O. June 10
PACUCOA Accreditation

Last June 10, SAIDI School of OD received a letter from Dr. Rosita Navarro, informing us that the PACUCOA Board of Directors has approved the endorsement to the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP) of the certification of both our MA and PhD in OD Programs for 2 years, effective April 2013 – April 2015.

Research Proposal of Fr. Edwin Selvaratnam

Last June 10, Fr. Edwin Selvaratnam presented his research proposal for his PhD degree. His research proposal was entitled “Discovering the Spirit of Formative Leadership to Craft a Formative Leadership Development Program for the Religious Congregations in Sri Lanka”.

The panel was composed of Dr. Marissa Alcantara as Chair, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes as Adviser, Dr. Arturo Orosco, Dr. Reynaldo Casas, and Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna as members.

June 17 - 18
CICM Provincial Assembly Facilitation

Last June 17 - 18, the CICM Provincial Assembly invited Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes to facilitate the “Review and Move Forward” journey which was focused on the resolutions of the previous assemblies. The framework used for this engagement was the SOAR model. Two compelling video presentations were used in this session which highlighted the very essence of the SOAR model and these were "Celebrate What is Right With the World" and "Change my Lens, Change my Life”.

Proposal Defense of Ms. Elvira Pedraja

Last June 19, Ms. Elvira Pedraja had her proposal defense for her MA Degree in OD specializing in Microfinance Management. Her proposal was entitled “Assessing the Devolution of Certain HR Functions of Regional Heads and Area Managers in CARD-North Luzon”.

The panel was composed of Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna, Mr. Edzel Ramos, and Ms. Glenda Lagarile.

Final Defense of Ms. Ma. Adoracion Ola

Last June 19, Ms. Ma. Adoracion Ola had her final defense for her MA Degree in OD specializing in Microfinance Management. Her thesis was entitled “Capacity-Building of Members towards this Productivity and Maintaining Portfolio Quality for CARD Bank Mogpog Branch”.

The panel was composed of Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna, Mr. Edzel Ramos, and Ms. Glenda Lagarile.

Redefense of Ms. Medy Valenzuela

Last June 19, Ms. Medy Valenzuela had a redefense of her final thesis for her MA Degree in OD specializing in Microfinance Management. Her final thesis was entitled “Ensuring Over-All Recording Efficiency at CARD Bank Branch Office: A Case Study”.

The panel was composed of Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna, Mr. Edzel Ramos, and Ms. Glenda Lagarile.

Final Defense of Mr. Kip Kap Kalyan

Last June 19, Mr. Kip Kap Kalyan had his final defense for his MA Degree in OD specializing in Microfinance Management. His thesis was entitled “Assessing the Readiness of CHC-Limited Clients to Initiate a Micro-Insurance Product”.

The panel was composed of Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna, Mr. Edzel Ramos, and Ms. Glenda Lagarile.

“Staying in Love with Your Work” Learning Session

Last June 28, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes facilitated a one-day learning session entitled “Staying in Love with Your Work” for 16 employees of the Department of Budget and Management. The participants were: Maria Regina Cenino, Minda Monteclaro, Luis Sanchez, Relida Cacdac, Sandra Rowena Perez, Anesa Sebastian, Marianne Villa, Marissa Mata, Elvira Robles, Narleen Velbis, Nancy de Castro, Teresa Siccion, Lynie Biaca, Ely Fernandez, Patricia Sta. Maria, and Celia Dominguez-Scott.

DPWH OCBP Program Group 3

Last May 6 - 8, the 3rd group of the DPWH OCBP Program, which consisted of 52 participants, attended Modules 1 & 2 of the series. Module 1 embodied the topic on OPEN SPACE Conversations and Module 2 was about PERSONAL MASTERY: Self-Awareness and Self-Knowledge.

The facilitators of Module 1 were Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna, and Ms. Josephine Perez. Module 2 facilitators were Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes and Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna.

May 17
Module 5 Discovering Appreciative Leadership

Last May 17, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes facilitated the 5th Module of the POD Certificate Program for the period of January – May 2013. Dr. Raul Manas was the only participant who was able to attend all Modules of the program. Thus, he was given the Certificate of Completion. One’s advantage in completing this program and its requirements is that you could receive an equivalent of 15-unit credits towards an MA or PhD in OD, specializing in POD.

Proposal Defense of Adelina Royo

Last May 15, Ms. Adelina Royo had her proposal defense for her PhD degree. Her research proposal was fittingly entitled “Pharmapreneurship: An Alternative Continuing Professional Development Framework for Practicing Pharmacists”. The panel was composed of Dr. Marissa Alcantara as Chair, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes as Adviser, Dr. Arturo Orosco, Dr. Reynaldo Casas, and Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna as members.

Staying in Love with Your Work

Last May 24, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes facilitated a one-day learning session entitled “Staying in Love with Your Work”. There were 15 participants for this session, and they were from different sectors of society. There were representatives from Department of Budget and Management, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, St. Paul University Manila, St. Francis of Assisi College, St. Anthony School, Centro Escolar University, and CMDI.

This session was, need I say, very effective in inspiring its participants to love their work and go beyond their call of duty. They all went home very satisfied with the day’s turnout, and emerged to be transformed individuals with a clearer purpose in life.

May 29 - June 1
Training in AI Facilitation

Last May 29 to June 1, Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes and Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna facilitated a four-day workshop entitled “Training in Appreciative Inquiry (AI) Facilitation”. There were 5 participants present, namely: Ms. Emma Jean Ancaja (STMicroelectronics Inc.), Ms. Joann Fumar and Ms. Cath Vicedo (Emerson Electric Asia Ltd.), Ms. Marilyn Cepe (freelance consultant), and Fr. Alex Abia (SAIDI’s PhD candidate).

This workshop that just took place can be considered to be one of the prime workshops that SAIDI School of OD has to offer. It provided an extensive feel of what AI is all about. After completing the four-day workshop, the participants were able to grasp the idea behind AI, and optimistically, be able to pass it on to those they come in contact with in their respective professions.

April 16 - 18
DPWH OCBP Program Group 1

Last April 16 - 18, the 1st group of the DPWH OCBP Program, which consisted of 48 participants, attended Modules 1 & 2 of the series. Module 1 embodied the topic on OPEN SPACE Conversations and Module 2 was about PERSONAL MASTERY: Self-Awareness and Self-Knowledge.

The facilitators of Module 1 were Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes, Dr. Marie-Paul de Luna, and Ms. Josephine Perez. Module 2 facilitators were Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes and Dr. Amor Q. De Torres.

April 19
Final Defense of Fr. Peter

Last April 19, Fr. Peter Nguyen Thanh Nhiem, SVD had his final defense for his MA-PhD degree. His dissertation was aptly entitled “Using Positive Stories as Tool towards a Transformative Spirituality Among Vietnamese Youth”.

The panel was composed of Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes as Chair, Dr. Marie-Paul B. de Luna as Adviser, Sr. Flor Pauline L. Duran and Fr. Rico Ponce as members.

April 22 - 24
DPWH OCBP Program Group 2

Using Creativity as Tools for Positive Transformation

Another very interesting set of learning sessions offered by the Positive in OD Certificate
Program 2013 is the module on Using Creativity as Tools for Positive Transformation
which was held last March 15-16, 2013. The participants had a wonderful experience of
directly engaging in the various art forms offered in this module. The learning sessions
included topics on the Art of Change – facilitated by Dr. Noel Silan, the Visual Arts through
acrylic painting facilitated by Mr. Art De La Cruz, and the use of Metaphor and Story-Telling
facilitated bt Ms. Mary Melody Remorca. The participants included Mr. Camilo Casals, Mr.
Luis Bunales, Dr. Raul Manas and Ms. Ingrid Daba.

AAI Annual Assembly

The Association of Appreciative Inquiry (AAI) Annual Assembly was held at SAIDI-
Graduate School of OD. The event facilitated by Ms. Pearl Bernardo and attended by 16
participants, included the review of the history of AAI primarily through the perspective of
Dr. Rose O. Fuentes, one of the life-giving forces of the organization. The members also
discussed the challenges facing AAI – from its essence of being – an Authentic Appreciative
Living – to the possible different images of its future. A new set of officers was also elected
in the same gathering. They are as follows:President - Ms. Alen Esguerra; Vice President –
Ms. Grace Tyler; Secretary – Ms. Jaclyn Chiong, and Treasurer – Dr. Noel Silan.

Opening of SAIDI - PTL Toy Library

SAIDI opened its doors to the children of its surrounding community with the launching of SAIDI PTL Toy Library. The Toy Library project was led by Dr. Marie-Paul De Luna and is warmly supported by the administration and staff of SAIDI. At the day of the opening last February 16, SAIDI looked like hosting a fiesta for the community –250 children, many with their mothers joined the launching of the PTL Toy Library.

SAIDI-PTL Toy Library provides a child-centered play-and-learn venue where children are free to play (with age-appropriate and educational toys), express themselves (with art materials), and learn from a varied selection of books and from each other. The SAIDI-PTL Toy Library is supported by donors from the PTL network and volunteers of local parents and young teens.

Positive Image, Positive Actions

Four enthusiastic leaders coming from diverse backgrounds attended Module 2 of the Positive Organization Development Certificate Program 2013. These change leaders include Dr. Raul Manas, Mr. Camilo Casals, Ms. Ingrid Daba and Mr. Rolando Alpe. Dr. Marie-Paul De Luna facilitated this module entitled AI Principles as Vehicles for Positive Image-Positive Actions.

MOA Signing Between SAIDI and DPWH

SAIDI Graduate School of OD, represented by the Dean – Dr. Rosalina O. Fuentes and DPWH, represented by the MIS Director - Dr. Elizabeth E. Yap signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Organizational Culture Building Project for the department. SAIDI School of OD will provide the consulting & learning services for the implementation of DPWH’s organizational culture change.

The first of the two yearly sessions on Organization Planning Seminar (OPS) was held at SAIDI – Graduate School. This was facilitated by Dr. Rosalina O. Annual Research Forum

To mark the foundation day of SAIDI Foundation Inc., the Annual Research Forum was held last January 25, 2013 at SAIDI Graduate School of OD through SAIDI’s Applied Research Center (ARC). The theme for this year’s Research Forum is “Bringing OD to the Community.”

The participants got the chance to listen to presentations that provided new insights at demonstrating effectiveness and execution of planned change principles within the environ of social systems, organizations, community, and society. Aside from providing promising ideas for current students about to embark on their own research activities, the forum explored possibilities for building collaborative Partnerships between researchers and practitioners, private and public institutions.

There were 41 attendees coming from educational institutions like St. Francis of Assisi College, Miriam College, Ateneo de Davao, Don Bosco Technical Institute, Imus Institute, St. Paul College
of Manila, Enverga University. Others attendees were from United Nations, Orientalia Travel Service, Philippine Navy, Seameo-Innotech, Enchanted Kingdom, MMGI, Dream Foundation, CARD/CMDI, Diocese of Novaliches, Coffey Idev, SwedishMatch, Ranong Provincial Industrial Office.

Appreciative Inquiry and NLP

The first module of the Positive Organization Development (POD) Certificate Program 2013 was held last January 25-26, 2013, facilitated by Dr. Noel Silan. There are five modules under the POD Certificate Program and are delivered one module (for two day-sessions) per month from January to May, 2013.
The first module discussed and provided hands-on experiences regarding the meeting points of Appreciative Inquiry AI) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). There were six eager learners who actively engaged in all the discussions and hands-on exercises. They are: Mr. Luis Bunales of CalEnergy, Dr. Raul Manas (PhD Candidate), Mr. Camilo Casals of RIMANSI, Ms. Rebecca Baldonado of the Campus Ministry of the Archdiocese of Manila, and Bro.
