5th Organization Development Applied Research Forum

The Applied Research Center (ARC) of SAIDI School of Organization Development will host the 5th Annual Applied Research Forum on January 24 2014, Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 NN at SAIDI Information Office, 88 Loyola, #88 Esteban Abada St. Loyola Heights, Quezon City 1108..

With the theme "Creating a Better and Positive World thriough Organization Development", get the chance to listen to practitioners who used strengths-based methods at developing human potential and execution of planned change in the areas of leadership, spirituality and in an educational constitution context.

Aside from providing promising ideas for current students about to embark on their own research activities, the forum will explore possibilities for building collaborative partnerships and interactions between researchers and practitioners.

About the Research Presentors

Peter Mary Gan Liong Hoei, PhD

The Hope Model as OD Tool in Developing a Creative Economy Programs

Peter is currently the Advisory Chairman of the Master’s Degree programs in Entertainment Management and Production and in Content Management and Values Creation of Bangkok University (Thailand). He is also the Chief Advisor and Executive Director of Thailand Resort Co., Ltd, the Butterfly Records, PMD Plus, Gen-X Academy Group, Four Stars Thailand Co., Ltd, Managing Director of the Learning Kingdom Co., Ltd aside from concurrently being the Music Faculty Advisor of Silapakorn University and Mahidol University. Among his Committee Member duties, Peter also works with the Department of Cultural Promotion (Ministry of Culture, Thailand), the Commission on Higher Education (Ministry of Education, Thailand), and with The Association of Siamese Architects.

Some highlights from his previous positions include being Managing Director of Sony Music Entertainment Co., Ltd (Bangkok), Sony Music BEC Tero Entertainment Co., Ltd (Bangkok), and MC Thai Co., Ltd (Bangkok). Peter was also Deputy Director for Culture Management of Thammasat University (College of Innovation) and the CMO and COO of Samart Corporation Public Co., Ltd.

His general technical fields of expertise include Organization Development, Management, Marketing, and Entertainment.

Peter completed his Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from SAIDI School of Organization Development (Philippines) and his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Chulalangkorn University (Bangkok).


Marissa Cos-Alcantara, PhD Pilgrimage Toursas an Opportunity Towards Deeper Spirituality in Life

Marissa is currently the President of PIRKKO and TROY TOURS, INC. which specializes in pilgrimage Tours to the Holy Land and Europe, Special Interest Tours and worldwide cruises. Concurrently, she is the Assistant Academic Director of the Institute of Spirituality in Asia (ISA), a research and academic institute for the scholarly study of spirituality, and also a Faculty Member of the Institute of Formation and Religious Studies (IFRS). Marissa also sits as Board Member as well as Head of the Entrepreneurship Department of the Carmelite College in Siquijor.

Marissa received her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Organization Development specializing in Transformative Spirituality from SAIDI (2009) and completed her Carmelite Spirituality Course at Institute of Spirituality in Asia on the same year. She also completed the Managers Course from the Institute for Small Scale Industries at the University of the Philippines (2006).

She has attended numerous seminars and workshops locally and abroad from 2005 up to 2012 and has received recognition in the travel industry. Her experience qualify her to mentor students from the academe and business sectors.


Jean V. Lapa, PhD Relational Leadership Competencies and Interventions and their Effects on Employee Empowerment at Three Levels of Organization Development

Jean was VP for HR and OD in The Expressions Company Inc. from March 2008- July 2013 where she helped the President set up own management team and the organization; designed and implemented the HR systems soon after the retail company spun off from its parent company. In August 2013, she moved to International Family Food Services, Inc. (IFFSI) . Current Position held: Chief Human Resources Officer, IFFSI (Prieto Group of Companies): Shakeys, Bakemasters, Inc., Racks, Project Pie) where she assumes responsibility for the development and execution of organizational strategies in leadership development, talent and succession management, innovative rewards and recognition for a fast expanding group of businesses.

Jean has over 35 years of experience in Human Resources Management and an OD Practitioner for over 20 years, mostly in San Miguel Brewing International Group, where she assumed various roles and responsibilities, e.g., Talent Management (including leadership succession), Programs Research and Executive Compensation, with the last 3 years as an expatriate based in Hong Kong, holding the position of Regional HR Head of the Greater China Region. It was in China that she took pioneering work in setting up the headquarters in Hong Kong and installing the management teams of 5 subsidiaries.

With over 10 years experience as Senior Consultant in her own consulting outfit, Enthos, Inc. in OD, HR and Training with various companies: Kraft (Asia Regional Office). Shell Shared Services, San Miguel Corporation, IDS Logistics, Ayala Land, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Ortoll Group of Companies, Bistro Group, etc. Jean was also formerly the Learning and Development Chairperson and President of ODPN.
